The Supreme Court

I actually learned a handful of things about the Supreme Court I didn't really know before reading this article. I had no idea that the Supreme Court originally consisted of only six justices opposed to nine. Before I began the article I anticipated that they had probably started off with a different number of justices than they have now, but I wouldn't have expected an even number as that probably posed a few problems. I also didn't know the Supreme Court was established so close to America's founding. I assumed it was relatively early on but I didn't realize it was still during the time of Washington's presidency. The most important take-away point about the Supreme Court is probably the idea that it is important to have a diverse set of justices. When it comes to the Chief justice especially they are given a lot of responsibility and need to be a person that can consider all points of view. The most surprising thing I learned may be the fact that congress changed the number of Supreme Court justices multiple times and even reached 10 justices at one point. This article changed the way I thought about the Supreme Court because I would've expected it to have gone through many more drastic changes since its conception. It seems like the Supreme Court has stuck to a lot of its earliest processes. Obviously, I am not entirely sure about every way that the Supreme Court has changed and I'm not sure if this article is missing a lot of those points. But it seems like the US Government has more-or-less kept the same system that has worked, or not worked, for so many years.
