My family no longer pays for cable so I am often left to receive my news largely through social media as well as news apps installed on my phone. I don't tend to check the news apps on my phone, but when there is a major issue or event to report I will usually end up being notified about it a few times. I know this isn't necessarily a good thing, but I basically get almost all my news from social media these days. There are plenty of times where I do receive unbiased, true information from social media but there are a lot of accounts that are simply untrustworthy. I will also hear about a lot of things from my mom before I actually see them online.

When it comes to news sites, Associated Press is widely known for being one of, if not the most trustworthy amongst the biggest sources for our news. In today’s world it is obviously a big concern that the news we are getting is biased or not entirely true, so it is important for people to still be able to find dependable information somewhere. Whether you’re on the right or the left, or totally independent, people can generally agree that there is a problem with news being one-sided. This is why I think Associated Press is a fair choice if you’re trying to see the full spectrum of what is being reported.

I don’t tend to go out of my way to find news on a regular basis but if I am looking for information on a specific event I will sometimes read about it on NPR. NPR is similarly known for being pretty unbiased and not injecting polarizing opinions into their articles. They also report on music so I read articles about that on there too.

As I said before, I mainly get my news from social media so I probably get the most from Instagram. I try to follow accounts that just report on the news and don’t really involve their opinion at all. If I’d like to hear someone’s opinion on a matter I will go online to look for a more in-depth take on it. I have unfollowed certain accounts that were posting inaccurate information.

Since I am big into film I probably tend to look up a lot more in film news than I do political and global issues so I figured it only makes sense to include it. I go to IMDb for a lot of information on movies and their cast and crew. I will learn a lot about upcoming films and the status of them through IMDb and will see interesting videos and interviews about films I’ve watched.

Since I am also into gaming I will go online in search of the latest news in the video game industry. I will usually be looking for articles on unreleased games, which many times will have frequent new information and be pushed back for various reasons, so there is always something to read about. I also read about the games I already play and new updates or changes they are making to them.
